Volunteers Needed for Hurricane Iris Relief Effort

Doctors, nurses, and psychiatric/crisis counsellors are needed, especially in about two weeks (November and beyond) when the first rush of volunteers dies down or goes home. Local Ministry of Health can provide accommodation in the village, and transport, but no other support is guaranteed. Contact:

Nurse Elizabeth Enriquez
Ministry of Health
Punta Gorda Hospital
Ph. (501) 22026 or 22161

The Belizean Red Cross can use volunteers without specialist skills, to accompany trucks of food aid and monitor unloading and distribution to pre-established lists of families over the next three months. Volunteers must be self-funded, and should commit to a three month service. Red Cross will provide food, and may be able to provide accommodation. Contact:

Matron Shirley Mahung or Mr. Sherman Cruz
Belize Red Cross
Ph. (501) 22150
email toledoredcross@belizemail.net
